Back-2-back MVP ni Ravena

MANILA, Philippines – Kagaya ng inaasahan, nakamit ni Ateneo guard Kiefer Ravena ang Most Valuable Player trophy ng 78th UAAP men’s basketball tournament.

Inungusan ni Ravena ang karibal na si Kevin Ferrer ng University of Santo Tomas para sa top individual honor.

Ang 6-foot-1 na si Ravena ang unang player na na­ging back-to-back MVP awardee matapos si Bobby Ray Parks ng National University.

Nakamit ni Parks ang kanyang dalawang sunod na MVP titles noong Seasons 74 at 75.

Tumapos si Ravena na may 69.5 statistical points (SPs) matapos magsalansan ng league-best na 18.9 points, 4.9 assists at 6.1 rebounds per game para sa Blue Eagles.

Sa Final Four ay lalabanan ng No. 1 UST ang No. 4 NU, habang sasagupain ng No. 2 Far Eastern University ang No. 3 Ateneo.

Kapwa may bitbit na ‘twice-to-beat’ advantage ang Growling Tigers at ang Tamaraws laban sa Bulldogs at Blue Eagles, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Naglista naman si Ferrer ng 17.9 points at 8.2 rebounds per game para sa kanyang 67.36 SPs sa kampanya ng Growling Tigers.

Pumangatlo naman si import Alfred Aroga ng nagdedepensang NU sa kanyang 63.29 SPs kasunod sina La Salle star Jeron Teng (60.79 SPs) at Ed Daquioag (60.57 SPs) ng UST.

Kumolekta si Aroga ng mga average na 13.2 points at 12.9 rebounds para sa Bulldogs.

Si Teng ay nagtala ng mga averages na 18.3 points, 6.6 rebounds at 3.6 assists per game para sa Archers.

Ang  iba pang pumuwesto sa Top 10 ay sina Pape Sarr ng Adamson (58.29 SPs), Karim Abdul (57.43 SPs) ng UST, Gelo Alolino (55.71 SPs), ng NU at sina Mac Belo (54.29 SPs) at Mike Tolomia (50.29 SPs).
