PSL tankers may 5-ginto na sa Japan swimfest

TOKYO – Mainit na si­­ni­mulan ng Philippine Swimming League (PSL) ang paglangoy sa pag­hablot ng 13 medalya na pinakinang ng limang ginto sa unang araw ng la­nguyan sa 2015 Japan Invitational Swimming Championship sa Tokyo International Swimming Pool dito.

Ibinandera nina Indian Ocean All-Star Challenge multi-gold medalists Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh ng Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Parañaque, Kyla Soguilon ng Kalibo Sun Yat Sen School at Sean Terence Zamora ng University of Santo Tomas ang kampanya ng Pilipinas nang sumikwat ng tig-isang ginto sa kani-kanilang paboritong event.

Ipinakita ng 9-anyos na si Mojdeh ang kanyang pagi­ging beterana sa international competions ng dominahin ang girls’ 9-10 years 100m butterfly sa tiyempong isang minuto at 18.22 segundo, habang nag-reyna naman si Soguilon sa 9-10 50m backstroke category sa isinumi­teng oras na 33.85 segundo.

Inangkin naman ni Zamora, ang reigning Male Swimmer of the Year ang ginto sa boys 15-18 years bracket 200m backstroke nang magsumite ng 2:12.66 na gumapi sa pambato ng host country na si Naoki Nomura na may 2:21.48 oras.

“It was a great start as we already met our gold medal target here. But we are looking forward to win more medals in the co­ming days. We are happy that they are doing well des­pite the presence of some world-class tankers from United States, China and Japan,” pahayag ni PSL President Susan Papa.

Hindi rin nagpahuli sina Juliana Esmero ng University of the Philippines (UP) Integrated School’s at Rio Lorenzo Malapitan ng Divine World College Mindoro na nag-ambag ng tig-isang ginto.

Nilangoy ni Esmero ang ginto sa girls’ 11-12 50m backstroke sa 32.23 segundo habang sinikwat ni Malapitan ang ginto sa boys’ 11-12 50m butterfly sa 32.76 segundo sa torneong nilahukan ng mga  tankers mula Great Britain, China, US, the Netherlands at host Japan.

Bukod sa 5 ginto, nagsubi rin ang Pinas ng 3 pi­lak at 5 tanso.
