MANILA, Philippines – Hindi maaaring ikumpara ang boxing record ni Floyd Mayweather Jr. kay boxing legend Rocky Marciano.
Sinabi ni Hall of Famer at dating world middleweight king ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler na mas higit na kahanga-hanga ang kartada ni Marciano dahil ipinoste niya ito sa heavyweight division noong 1960’s.
“You got to realized that Mayweather is not a heavyweight like Marciano,” pagkukumpara ni Hagler sa dalawang American world boxing champions.
Kasalukuyang hawak ni Marciano, nagretiro noong Abril ng 1962, ang record na 49-0-0 win-loss-draw ring record na siyang pilit na papantayan ni Mayweather sa kanyang laban kay Andre Berto sa Setyembre 12 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ito ang sinasabing magiging pinakahuling laban ng world five-division titlist bago magretiro.
Ngunit marami ang humuhulang lalampasan ng 38-anyos na si Mayweather, tinalo si Filipino world eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision noong Mayo 2 sa MGM Grand, ang naturang kartada ni Marciano.
“If it was 50 fights in the heavyweight division I believe it would be a story and make history,” sabi ni Hagler kay Mayweather. “I don’t think because Mayweather wins this 50th fight or whatever, it isn’t going to be the same as if he was a heavyweight.”
