MANILA, Philippines – Kagaya ng kanilang napagkasunduan, si Floyd Mayweather, Jr. ang opisyal na maghahayag ng kanilang super fight ni Manny Pacquiao.
Ito ang ginawa kahapon ni Mayweather, magiging 38-anyos sa Pebrero 24, para sa kanilang banggaan ng 36-anyos na si Pacquiao sa Mayo 2 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I am very happy that Floyd Mayweather and I can give the fans the fight they have wanted for so many years,” ani Pacquiao.
“They have waited long enough and they deserve it. It is an honor to be part of this historic event. I dedicate this fight to all the fans that willed this fight to happen and, as always, to bring glory to the Philippines and my fellow Filipinos around the world,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi naman ni Mayweather na nakatulong sa kanyang desisyon ang pakikipag-usap niya kay Pacquiao sa hotel suite nito sa Miami, Florida matapos manood ng laro ng Heat at ng Milwaukee Bucks noong nakaraang buwan
“I am glad my decision to meet with Manny and discuss making this fight happen helped get the deal done,” sabi ni Mayweather.
Ilan sa mga napagkasunduan ng dalawa ay ang opisyal na paghahayag ni Mayweather ng kanilang mega showdown nila ni Pacquiao at ang 60/40 purse split na pabor sa American fighter.
“Giving the fans what they want to see is always my main focus. This will be the biggest event in the history of the sport. Boxing fans and sports fans around the world will witness greatness on May 2. I am the best ever, TBE, and this fight will be another opportunity to showcase my skills and do what I do best, which is win,” ani Mayweather.
At katulad ng dapat asahan, ipinadama ni Mayweather, hindi pa natatalo sa kanyang 47 laban kung saan siya may 26 knockouts, ang kanyang kayabangan.
“Manny is going to try to do what 47 before him failed to do, but he won’t be successful. He will be number 48,” wika ng tubong Grand Rapids.
Inaasahang babasag ang Pacquiao-Mayweather fight ng mga records sa purse size, live paid gate at pay-per-view sales.
