MANILA, Philippines – Pararangalan ang mga top achievers ng 2014 sa pagdaraos ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) ng Annual Awards Night na inihahandog ng Milo at ng San Miguel Corp. ngayong gabi sa 1Esplanade sa Pasay City.
Si Asian Games gold medal winner Daniel Caluag ang tatanggap ng PSA Athlete of the Year honor.
Pangungunahan nina Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr., Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia at PSA president Jun Lomibao ng Business Mirror ang mga officials, athletes, sportswriters at guests sa paghirang sa 27-anyos na BMX rider na si Caluag.
Makakasama ni Caluag sa event na suportado ng Smart, MVP Sports Foundation at ng Meralco bilang principal sponsors at ang PSC bilang major sponsor ang siyam na tatanggap ng Special Awards mula sa pinakamatandang media organization sa bansa.
Ang UAAP men’s basketball champion na National University Bulldogs ay tatanggap ng President’s Award at ibibigay sa 1973 Philippine men’s basketball team na nagkampeon sa FIBA-Asia Men’s Championship ang Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ang iba pang bibigyan ng Special Awards ay sina Hans Sy (Executive of the Year), champion coach Tim Cone (Excellence In Basketball), Alyssa Valdez (Ms. Volleyball), Jean Pierre Sabido (Mr. Taekwondo), Tony Lascuna at Princess Superal (Golfers of the Year), ang Mitsubishi (Hall of Fame) at ang MVP Sports Foundation (Sports Patron of the Year).
