PSC itataas sa elite ang labanan sa PNG
MANILA, Philippines – Babaguhin ang Philippine National Games (PNG) sa isang elite competition mula sa pagiging isang open tournament kung saan tanging mga ‘qualified’ bets lamang ang papayagang makalahok.
Sinabi ni PSC chairman Richie Garcia na ito ay para maiwasan ang mga mismatches na nangyayari sa pagitan ng mga bagitong nakakalaban ang mga elite athletes.
“We have observed in the last PNG in Manila (last summer), there were many walk-in participants who actually had no business participating. They weren’t really qualified and as a result they got beaten black and blue by the qualified athletes in sports like boxing,” wika ni Garcia.
Simula sa susunod na taon ay sinabi ni Garcia na isasagawa ang mga regional qualifying events para madetermina kung sino ang nararapat mapasama sa national finals.
“To make sure that only qualified athletes will participate in the PNG, we’ll have regional tournaments in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Winners will participate in the national finals in early 2016. The national finals will now be held every other year,” wika ni Garcia.
Samantala, hinirang naman ng PSC ang Koronadal, South Cotabato bilang host ng Mindanao qualifying leg ng Batang Pinoy 2015.
Nauna nang natalo ang Koronadal sa hosting ng 2015 Palarong Pambansa na napanalunan ng Tagum City.
