MANILA, Philippines - Posibleng gawin ang title defense ni unified world flyweight champion Brian ‘The Hawaiian Punch’ Viloria sa Pilipinas at hindi sa Hawaii ngayong taon.
Ito ang sinabi ng promoter ni Viloria na si Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions kaugnay sa pagsagupa ng Fil-American fighter kontra kay Mexican light flyweight titlist Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzales.
“It would be a great fight, but I would want to make it in Asia because it would be more attractive than doing it in Hawaii,” sabi ni Arum sa Viloria-Gonzales fight.
Kung mapaplantsa ang laban kay Viloria, ang flyweight king ng World Boxing Organization at World Boxing Association, aakyat ng weight division si Gonzales.
“I’ve had conversations with Viloria representatives to make that fight, and I’ve also expressed interest to Fernando (Beltran) who has a contract with Chocolatito’s handlers so we can carry out this fight,” ani Arum.
Kasalukuyang bitbit ng 32-anyos na si Viloria ang kanyang (32-3-0 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 19 knockouts, samantalang tangan ng 25-anyos na si Gonzales ang kanyang 34-0-0, 28 KOs) slate.
Si Gonzales ang naghahari sa light flyweight class ng WBA.
Matapos ang pagdedepensa sa kanyang WBO crown laban kay Mexican Omar Niño Romero (31-5-2, 13 KOs) mula sa kanyang ninth-round TKO win noong Mayo 13, 2012, inagaw ni Viloria kay Mexican Hernan ‘Tyson’ Marquez (34-3-0, 25 KOs) ang suot nitong WBA belt mula sa isang tenth-round TKO win noong Nobyembre 17, 2012 sa LA Sports Arena sa Los Angeles, California.
