Batang Pinoy Southern Luzon Leg Laguna humakot agad ng 6 na gold sa athletics

CALAPAN, Oriental  Mindoro, Philippines --Anim na gintong medalya ang kinuha ng Laguna sa athletics sa kanilang kampanya sa Southern Luzon qualifying leg ng Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Batang Pinoy Games.

Sinimulan ni long-distance runner Gilbert Rotaquio ang ratsada ng Laguna nang maghari sa boys’ 14-15 5,000-meter run sa pagbubukas ng track and field competitions kahapon sa Jose Leido Memorial National High School oval.

Ang 15-anyos na si Rotaquio, estud­yante ng Siniloan High School, ay nagtala ng oras na 18 minuto at 28.5 segundo para talunin sina Mark Adrielle Galve ng Dasmariñas City (18:52.1) at Calamba City bet Eal Kim Russel Lerezo (18:55.9).

Inangkin naman ni Jordan Montema­yor ng Pila, Laguna ang ikalawang ginto sa boys’ 14-15 shot put.

Naghagis si Montemayor, naghari sa discus throw noong nakaraang taon, ng 10.48 metro upang ungusan ang ka­babayang si Aaron Smith Buenaseda (9.42) at Calapan City pride Jhon Carlo Brotonel (9.40).

Target rin ni Rotaquio ang mga gold medal sa 1500m, 800m, 2000m walk, 4x100m relay at 4x400m relay, habang asam ni Montemayor, isang third-year student sa San Antonio De Padua College, ang discus at javelin throws.

Nagbigay rin ng ginto sa Laguna, ang 2011 national champion sa athletics, mula kina Rocena Chua (girls’ 14-15 high jump), Chaimo Panteriore (boys’ 13-under 2000m run), Marjorie Limos (girls’ 14-15 2000m walk) at Charies Mae Violanta (girls’ 14-15 shot put).
