Bagong uri ng ecstasy, nadiskubre ng PDEA

MANILA, Philippines - Isang bagong uri ng ecstasy, isang droga na ginagamit sa mga kasayahan o party ang nadiskubre ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) kahapon.

Ayon kay PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. ang bagong porma ng ecstasy ay pinaghalo sa methamphetamine hydrochloride o shabu na mula sa porma ng kapsula at magkakaiba ang mga kulay.

“The disclosure of the souped-up ecstasy was the result of the chemical analysis conducted by the PDEA Laboratory Service on the pieces of drug evidence consisting of 38 green capsules that were seized during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City last week,” sabi pa ni Cacdac.

Ang shabu-laced ecstasy, o madalas na tawaging “fly-high”, o “party” ay patuloy na umuusad at in-demand sa mga club at party-goers. Ang kemikal na ginamit sa preparasyon ng bagong ecstasy ay direktang inimporta mula sa isang bansa sa Southeast Asia at diniliber sa Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng malaking bagahe.

“These capsules may differ in color corresponding to its content. The ecstasy-shabu combined substance is colored dark green, while those colored light green and brown contain ephedrine, a controlled substance and a critical component in the manufacture of shabu,” paliwanag ni Cacdac.

Sa kasalukuyan, patuloy na pagpapa-igting ng PDEA sa kanilang intelligence gathering para maaresto ang mga responsable sa bagong kalakaran ng illegal drug trafficking.
