Over 3T served in Apas health center since July

CEBU, Philippines — Over four months into its operation, the Apas Super Family Health Center has catered to over 3,000 patients.

The said facility, which opened last July, initially catered to 600 patients in its first month.

From the first month of operation until the end of this month, the said health center has been able to accommodate to over 3,000 patients.

“Since we started in July, we have catered to initially 600 patients, and at present, until the month of October, nag-cater nata og 3,074 patients for that time period,” Dr. Grace Valdez, medical director of the Apas SFHC, said via the City’s PIO.

The said facility used to receive an average of 60 patients daily, but this has increased to around 80 lately.

“Actually, ang sa Apas Super Health Center, nag-increase atong number of patients… Now, we are increasing to 80 patients, kay we are not only catering to Apas,” Valdez added.

Aside from the residents of Apas, they have also catered patients from other barangays in the city.

“These are the patients nga kung wala pay doctor nato didto, they can easily come down and then avail of (the services of) our doctors," Valdez said.

This as Apas has doctors round-the-clock and do not rotate to other health centers.

Other than the availability of doctors 24/7, more patients are noted lately due to seasonal diseases including flu, pneumonia, and dengue.

The said facility also offers free consultation, laboratory, and pre-natal services, among others, on scheduled dates. Some medicines are available for patients to avail.

“Even though we are not yet a licensed facility, we are moving towards being simple laboratory bundles; like for those having the diabetic profile, CBC, dengue, with the schedule of laboratory med techs available. Our laboratory is just operating every other week. Every other week, naa tay available nga mga med tech,” Valdez said.

A standby ambulance is also available at the said center for emergency use for residents of Apas and neighboring barangays.

“Kung wala tay mga ambulance sa ubang barangay, they can call us and then the CCDRRMO (Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office) is also here with us to have a collaboration,” Valdez ended. (CEBU NEWS)
