MANILA, Philippines — Fake news umano ang kumalat sa social media na nakaratay umano sa hospital si Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez matapos na ma-stroke.

“We strongly deny the false and malicious rumors being circulated online claiming that Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez suffered a stroke and is currently confined in a hospital,” pagpapasubali ni Atty. Lemuel Erwin Romero, Head Executive Assistant ng Speaker’s office sa kumalat na fake news.

“These allegations are completely untrue and are clearly designed to mislead the public and sow confusion,” ani Romero na sinabing nasa maayos na kalusugan ang 61-anyos na si Romualdez.

Sa katunayan, ayon kay Romero ay aktibo at patuloy na gina­gampanan ni Romualdez ang tungkulin nito na may dedikasyon at nakapokus kung saan nitong Sabado lamang ay marami itong official engagements na dinaluhan na nagpapakita lamang ng kaniyang aktibong serbisyo publiko.

Kahapon lamang ng umaga, ayon kay Romero ay nasa Malacañang si Romualdez para sa ceremonial signing ng dalawang batas ang Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act at ang Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act kung saan maraming media ang nagsagawa ng coverage at nakita ang aktibo nitong papel sa nasabing pinagtibay na batas.

“We urge everyone to rely only on verified and official sources of information and to reject disinformation that seeks to undermine trust in our leaders and institutions,” giit nito.
