4 OVP execs ipinaaresto ng Kamara

MANILA, Philippines — Pinatawan ng contempt at ipinaaresto na ng Kamara ang apat na opisyal ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) matapos mabigong dumalo sa pagdinig kaugnay ng umano’y iregularidad sa paggasta ng pondo ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Sa hearing ng House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability na pinamumunuan ni Manila Rep. Rolando Valeriano, nag-mosyon si House Deputy Speaker at Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay“ Suarez na patawan ng contempt sina Gina Acosta, OVP Disbursing Officer; Lemuel Ortonio, OVP Assistant Chief of Staff and Bids and Awards Chairperson; Sunshine Fajarda, dating DepEd Assistant Secretary at mister nitong Edward Fajarda, dating DepEd Disbursing Officer na sinang-ayunan ng buong blue ribbon panel.

Una nang sinabi ni Chua ang umano’y misused funds ng OVP ay lumagpas na sa legal threshold sa kasong plunder sa ilalim ng batas ng Pilipinas kaugnay ng P125 milyong confidential funds na alokasyon ng OVP na ginasta sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong 2022.

Samantala, tumangging manumpa para magsabi ng totoo ang Chief legal counsel ng OVP na si Emily Torrentira.

“The good attorney, what is your role in this, you were not invited but you are present in today’s hearing but you never take your oath? Why? What is your presence (here for)?,” kuwestiyon ni Abang Lingkod Partylist Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano. Tinugon naman ito ni Torrentina na nirereprisinta lamang niya ang institusyon.

Dahil wala namang maiprisinta si Torrentira na kakatawanin niya ang OVP ay nagmosyon si Paduano na idismis ang presensya nito na kinatigan naman ng panel.
