MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagkaloob kay Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman ang prestihiyosong Gawad Kapayapaan Award nitong Setyembre 30.
Ang naturang pagkilala ay iprinisinta ng Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
Kinilala ang kontribusyon ni Secretary Pangandaman sa kapayapaan at pagpapaunlad ng ekonomiya sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Bilang co-chairperson ng Intergovernmental Relations Body (IGRB), pinangunahan ni Pangandaman ang pagsisimula ng pitong mekanismo ng IGRB sa loob lamang ng isang taon at iprinisinta ang 3rd Progress Report to the President nitong Hulyo 31.
“As a proud daughter of Mindanao, this mission holds a deep personal significance for me. The vision of peace and development in BARMM is something that lives in my heart—a flame that burns brightly. I have seen first-hand how conflict can scar communities, but I also know that hope and peace can transform lives,” ayon sa Budget Chief sa kanyang acceptance speech.
Isa ring key figure si Pangandaman sa paglulunsad ng Marawi Compensation Board (MCB), na nagtulak sa pagbangon ng ekonomiya sa rehiyon.
Inilunsad rin niya ang Public Financial Management Competency Program (PFMCP) sa BARMM para palakasin ang mga PFM practitioners.
Bilang natatanging Muslim Filipina sa gabinete ni PBBM, suportado rin ng Budget Chief ang “women empowerment and financing with gender perspective”.
Pinangunahan niya ang delegasyon ng Pilipinas at nagbahagi ng kanyang kalaman sa 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women ng United Nations (UN) noong Marso 2024.
“Our government is committed to peacebuilding through real and concrete actions because, at the end of the day, peace begins with us. It starts with what we are willing to give, what we are willing to sacrifice for the greater good,” paliwanag ni Secretary Pangandaman.
