2 aktibista abswelto sa 'illegal possession of firearms, explosives' — korte
MANILA, Philippines — Pinawalang-sala ng korte ang dalawang aktibista mula Kamaynilaan na pinaratangan ng iligal na pangangalaga ng mga armas, pasabog at mga bala.
Sa desisyong inilabas ng Regional Trial Court Branch 19 sa Maynila, Miyerkules, napatunayang walang sala sina Cora Agovida ng Gabriela Metro Manila at Michael Bartolome ng KADAMAY Metro Manila.
"In sum, the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt Bartolome's and Agovida's ownership or pessession of the firearms, ammunitions and explosives and their lack of license to own or pessess them," ayon sa desisyong nilagdaan ni presiding judge Marlo Magdoza-Malagar.
"Thus, it failed to overcome the presumption of innocense which the accused enjoy. This Court is thus constrained to render a judgement of acquittal."
WHEREFORE, premises considered, the accused, MICHAEL BARTOLOME y TAN and CORA AGOVIDA y MERIOLES, are hereby ACQUITTED of the offenses charged for failure of the prosecution to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

Ika-31 ng Oktubre taong 2019 nang ipatupad ng pinagsamang pwersa ng MPD DPIOU, Philippine National Police SWAT, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at EODU ang ilang search warrants laban kina Bartolome at Agovida.
Aniya, na-"rekober" sa naturang pagsalakay ang sumusunod, na nagresulta sa kanilang pagkakaaresto:
- caliber .45 pistol (1), na may lamang anim (6) na bala
- caliber .45 pistol (1) na may pitong (7) bala
Dahil sa napatunayang walang sala ang dalawa, ibabalik kina Bartolome at Agovida ang iba't ibang gamit na kinumpiska sa kanila na hindi naman kasama sa search warrants no. 5946 (19) at 5947 (19), lalo na't hindi naman daw ito mga kontrabando.

Matagal nang nire-redtag ng gobyerno ang mga ligal na grupong aktibista bilang mga "front" o miyembro mismo ng rebeldeng New People's Army (NPA) at Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), ang ikalawa'y hindi naman iligal na grupo.
Ang lahat ng ito ay kahit na magkahiwalay na mga grupo ang ligal at lihim na kilusang Kaliwa.
