Duterte tinanggihan si Miriam sa 2016

MANILA, Philippines - Ikinatuwa ni Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ang naging pahayag ni Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago na nais siyang makatambal sa 2016 national elections, ngunit tinanggihan niya ang ideya ng senadora.

Sinabi ni Duterte na hindi siya nararapat na tumakbo sa pagkabise-presidente bukod pa sa plano niyang pagreretiro sa politika.

"Unfortunately, I said I am not good for national office. And besides, I intend to retire after this term," wika ng alkalde.

Sa halip ay inendorso ni Duterte si dating National Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro na isa rin sa pinagpipilian ni Santiago.

Aniya sapat ang kakayanan at karanasan ni Teodoro upang tumakbo sa naturang puwesto.

"He is a man of integrity and competence and he would make a good vice president of this republic," komento ni Duterte.

Sinabi pa ng alkalde na handa niyang suportahan si Teodoro hanggang dulo.

"I will support him all the way."

Bukod kina Duterte at Teodoro, pinag-iisipan din ni Santiago na makatambal si Senador Grace Poe.

"Maybe we can have two women running together, president and vice president? How about that, ladies?" banggit ng batikang senador kahapon.

"Maybe it's Miriam and Grace? It just sounds like a restaurant," dagdag niya. "Miriam-Grace sounds so charming.”
