'Not guilty' hirit ng dating opisyal ng PCSO

MANILA, Philippines — Naghain ng “not guilty” plea ang dating Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) official Jose Taruc V sa P300-milyon plunder case laban sa kanya at kay dating Pangulo Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sa Sandiganbayan.

Itinanggi ni Taruc na nakinabang siya sa pondo ng PCSO noong administrasyong Arroyo.

Kasalukuyang nakakulong si Taruc sa Philippine National Police Holding Center sa Camp Crame matapos sumuko nitong Lunes sa Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

"He surrendered after learning that two of his co-accused were able to post bail," wika ni CIDG chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong.

Nagtago si Taruc mula noong 2012 at lumutang nito lamang matapos makapagpiyansa sina dating PCSO chairman Manuel "Manoling" Morato at director Raymundo Roquero.

Bukod kay Taruc ay nahaharap din sa kasong pandarambong ang iba pang dating opisyal ng PCSO na sina Rosario Uriarte, Sergio Valencia, Ma. Fatima Valdes at Benigno Aguas.

Dawit din sina Reynaldo Villar at Nilda Plaras ng Commission on Audit na hanggang ngayon ay nagtatago pa rin.

Sina Jaime Regalario, Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel at dating Army general Danilo Lim ang naghain ng reklamo laban sa mga naturang opisyal noong 2011.
