Uulan ng bulalakaw
MANILA, Philippines - Mula ngayong linggo, inaasahan na ang pag-ulan ng bulalakaw hanggang sa huling araw ng Hulyo ng taong ito.
Ayon kay Vicente Malano, head ng astronomical division ng Pagasa, mula Hulyo 28-31, 2013 ay makikita ng mga early risers ang pag-ulan ng bulalakaw na may bilang na mula 5 hanggang 10 kada oras o aabutin ng 15 bulalakaw kada oras kung maganda ang kundisyon ng kalangitan.
“All of [these] combine with sporadic and early Perseid activity to provide a nice display of meteors on moonless mornings in late July,†ayon kay Malano.
“When comets come around the sun, the dust they emit gradually spreads into a dusty trail around their orbits. Every year the Earth passes through these debris trails, which allows the bits to enter our atmosphere where they disintegrate to create fiery and colorful streaks in the sky,†ayon naman sa NASA.
Sinabi pa ni Malano na bukod sa meteor shower ay mayroon ding magaganap na stargazers sa kalaÂngitan hanggang sa pagtatapos ng Hulyo.
“Stargazers will be having a nice time watching the night sky with the famous Summer Triangle of the stars Vega, Deneb and Altair of the constellations Lyra, Aquila and Cygnus, respectively, being well placed in the eastern horizon before midnight,†dagdag ni Malano.
