2 graduating sa college nagpositibo sa HIV

MANILA, Philippines - Nagpositibo sa Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) ang dalawang graduating college student sa General Santos City.

Ayon kay Dr. Mely Lastimoso, coordinator ng City Integrated Health Services Office’s (CIHSO) Social Hygiene Clinic ito’y batay sa resulta ng ginawang initial screening ng kanilang tanggapan at ng confirmatory tests ng Department of Health (DOH).

Ang dalawa aniya ay kusang loob na nagpasuri sa voluntary HIV testing program ng pamahalaan sa nabanggit na lungsod.

Sa kabuuan ay 62 na ang naitatalang bilang ng may HIV sa lungsod.

Nananawagan si Dr. Lastimoso sa mga residente lalo na yaong nakalantad sa tinatawag na “risky sexual behavior,” na magpasuri na rin sa voluntary HIV screening or testing program.

“Our goal is to identify our HIV patients at the early stage so they can immediately access our maintenance treatment. An early diagnosis is also a good prognosis because that means you can still prolong your life,” sabi ng doctor.

Maaaring makakuha ang  HIV patients ng anti­retroviral drugs for treatment na libreng pinamamahagi ng DOH.
