MANILA, Philippines - Tinanggihan ni election lawyer Maria Bernadette Sardillo ang appointment niya bilang commissioner ng Commission on Elections.
Kinumpirma kahapon ni deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte na sumulat sa Pangulo si Sardillo upang ipaalam na ayaw na niyang maging commissioner ng Comelec.
Sa sulat ni Sardillo na may petsang Marso 7 sinabi nito na ikinalulugod niya na ikinokonsidera siya ng Pangulo na maging Commissioner ng Comelec pero mas nanaig ang kagustuhan ng kaniyang pamilya na manatili na lamang siya sa pribadong sektor.
“Good day. I am deeply grateful for having been considered as Commissioner in the Commission on Elections. However, it is also with deep regret that I am withdrawing my application to the Commission. This decision was reached after consultation with my family who has prevailed upon me to remain in the private sector. Nevertheless, please be assured of my continued support of your administration. Thank you,†nakasaad sa sulat ni Sardillo sa Pangulo.
Ayon kay Valte base sa nakarating sa kanilang impormasyon ay may “health concern†ang isa sa mga miyembro ng pamilya ni Sardillo kaya tinaggihan rin nitong maging commissioner ng Comelec.
Hanggang kahapon ay wala pa umanong lumulutang na pangalan para ipalit kay Sardillo.
