MANILA, Philippines – Naglabas ng cease and desist order ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Rosario, Cavite kontra sa Petron Corporation dahil sa oil spill na nakaapekto sa apat na bayan ng probinsya.
Sinabi ni Mayor Jose Ricafrente na mananatili ang kautusan hangga’t matapos ang paglilinis ng oil company sa pinsalang kanilang idinulot.
"Hangga't hindi naaayos ang problema, tigil-operasyon muna sa dagat. Inamin na nila. Nag-isyu na tayo ng cease and desist order ngayong umaga," sabi ni Ricafrente ngayong Martes ng umaga.
Pero nilinaw ni Ricafrente na hindi nila ipinapatigil ang operasyon ng Petron ngunit ipinagbabawal lamang niya ang paggamit ng underwater pipeline upang hindi na maulit pa ang insidente.
Kahapon ay inako na ng Petron na sila ang may kasalanan sa pagkalat ng langis sa mga bayan ng Rosario, Naic, Tanza at Ternate .
“At this stage, we take responsibility for this unfortunate incident. We sincerely apologize and assure all the communities affected that we will strive to resolve the situation at the soonest possible time,†pahayag ni Petron president Lubin Nepomuceno.
Aniya susumikapin nilang maibalik sa normal ang buhay ng mga apektadong residente.
“In the meantime, we will continue to give the assistance needed by residents affected by the spill,†dagdag ni Nepomuceno.
Nitong Huwebes kumalat ang langis ng Petron nang magsalin ng diesel ang M/T Makisig tanker sa oil depot.
“We are closely coordinating with government agencies such as PCG (Philippine Coast Guard), BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) and DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) to enhance our community assistance efforts,†sabi ng Petron.
