MANILA, Philippines – Isang grupo ng mga mag-aaral mula sa Quezon province ang nakapag-uwi ng first prize mula sa isang international competition sa Bangkok, ayon sa Department of Education (DepEd) ngayong Lunes.
Sinabi ng DepEd na ang high school students mula sa Lopez National Comprehensive High School ang nanaig sa United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Bangkok’s Better Learning, Better Life competition.
"We share in the happiness of our young students who correctly pointed out that innovative teachers as well as non-traditional student- learners are important factors in shaping a bright future for education," sabi ng kalihim ng DepEd na si Armin Luistro.
Dagdag ng DepEd na sinalihan ng mga bansang Australia, China, India, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, at Singapore ang kompetisyon kung saan ibinahagi ng mga mag-aaral ang kanilang pananaw sa hinaharap ng edukasyon sa pamamagitan ng written at video entries.
Sumagot ang mga mag-aaral sa tanong ng UNESCO Bangkok sa tanong na: What kind of skills will be needed for the future? What should young people learn and how should they learn it?
Itinugon ng mga mag-aaral ng Lopez National Comprehensive High School sa pamamagitan ng video ay ang pagtutukoy sa “innovative teachers as the ultimate resource†at ang pagkatuto ay isang “out of the box†at ito ang kailangan ng mga kabataan upang magkaroon ng mabuting buhay at kinabukasan.
Nakatanggap ang mga mag-aaral ng tablet computers mula sa UNESCO Bangkok bilang premyo nila.
