Streetkids i-tweet mo sa DSWD

MANILA, Philippines – Imbis na magbigay ng limos sa mga batang-kalsada, hinihikayat ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na iulat na lamang ito sa kanilang tanggapan sa pamamagitan ng micro-blogging site na Twitter.

Sa binuong account ng ahensya (@savestreetkids), maaring ipagbigay alam sa kanila ang lugar kung saan namataan ang mga street children.

“Through this Twitter account, the public may now report sightings of street children by tweeting to us where they exactly saw these children. They can use the format: savestreetkids at / exact name of street / nearest landmark/ Metro Manila City/time of sighting," pahayag ni DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman.

"Updates will be posted within eight hours in our Twitter account on whether the street children have been rescued. They will then be brought to reception action centers of local government units and to DSWD managed-centers to determine where they came from and to be provided with appropriate services and interventions,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi pa ng kalihim na nakikipag-ugnayan sila sa mga lokal na pamahalaan at non-government organizations para ma-monitor ang mga kalsadang may mga street children.

"The children will be invited to the barangays especially this Christmas season. Activities will be held at the barangay level to keep the children off the streets,” sabi ni Soliman.

Sa talaan ng DWSD, lagpas 4,000 na batang lansangan ang nasa mga lugar na sumusunod:

• Roxas Boulevard sa Manila
• Kalayaan Road, Barangay E. Rodriguez, at Quezon Avenue sa Quezon City
• Balintawak sa Caloocan City
• Roxas Boulevard sa Pasay City
• Greenhills, Ortigas sa San Juan City
• Kapasigan sa Pasig City
• Madrigal Avenue, Alabang sa Muntinlupa City
• NAIA Road sa Parañaque City

Samantala, sinabi ni Soliman na ang DSWD ay magpapatupad ng Modified Conditional Cash Tranfer program na may layuning tulungan ang mga walang bahay na pamilya.

Aniya susubukan ang programang ito sa Metro Manila bago ipatupad sa buong bansa.
