Entertainment press walang napiga kay Jackie Ejercito

Guess who emerged the most-sought after interviewee, as far as the entertainment press was concerned sa katatapos na presentation ng 30 candidates for the 2014 Miss Manila sa Diamond Hotel Ballroom kamakailan?

Not any of the naggagandahang participants in the contest, mind you. Kung hindi si Jackie Ejercito, pa­nganay na anak na babae ni former President now Manila Mayor, Joseph ‘‘Erap’’ Estrada, sa asawang si former Loi Ejercito-Estrada.

Former Senator Loi kasi is chair of this year’s pageant. She is head of the non-profit institution, MARE Foundation, na siyang may pasimuno ng event, na part of the celebration of this year’s Araw ng Maynila on June 24. By the way, doctor of medicine graduate si Senator Loi.

Co-chairperson ng kanyang ina si Jackie. Hence, her presence sa presscon ng event. Project consultant naman ang dating beauty queen at dating asawa ng isang incumbent Senator, si Jewel May Lobaton.

Well, of Jackie, may current issue kasi about her, na may kinalaman diumano sa kasalukuyang hiwalayang naganap sa kanya at asawang si Beaver Lopez, yes, of the fame Lopez clan.

Lalong tumindi ang kasabikan ng mga entertainment writers tungkol sa balita kay Jackie, when the host of the event addressed her merely as Ms. Jackie Ejercito. Yes, minus the surname Lopez.

Well, naging matinding ‘‘paghamon’’ si Jackie for the entertainment press, ‘di lang dahil ayaw niyang sumagot sa mga tanong nila, magalang din kasing nagpaalam siya sa mga ito.

Miss Manila 2014 malapit nang koronahan

Of the contest, winner of the Miss Manila title will be crowned in elaborate ceremonies on June 24 exactly, 7 p.m., at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The criteria involved, para maging participants ng contest include ang pagiging naturally-born female residents ng City of Manila, 18 to 25 years old; at least 5’4” tall, single (never been married or pregnant); at least college level, proficient in Tagalog/English with know­ledge of the history/culture of Manila a student of Manila for at least two years, either parent residing or born in Manila and with good moral character.

The Miss Manila 2014 Pageant is a joint project of President-Manila Mayor Erap and Viva Group of Companies big boss, Vic del Rosario.

From among the contestants nga pala, personal favorite naming manalo, pati pa ng ilang members ng aming colleague sa entertainment press, si Angelina Gabrena Ong, 23 (vital statistics: 33-24-36).

Toni dinalanging huwag ma-in love si Alex habang nasa PBB House

Sa presscon naman ni Toni Gonzaga for her seventh album under Star Records, titled Celestine, her real name, Toni announced na this Saturday na ang ‘‘release’’ ng kanyang nakababatang kapatid na si Alex Gonzaga sa Bahay ni Kuya ng ongoing edition ng Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) All in.

House guest kasi siya ni Kuya sa kanyang boarding house.

Kailangan na rin kasing ‘‘lumabas’’ ni Alex, bagama’t kung siya raw ang masusunod ayaw pa niya, dahil may mga commitment siyang dapat gawin for ABS-CBN, kabilang na ang Koreanovela na Pure Love, na i-a-adapt into a Tagalog telenovela.

Paired with Alex in the series are Arjo Atayde and Joseph Marco. Tampok din si Sunshine Cruz.

Dalangin daw ni Toni na huwag sanang ma-in love si Alex sa kahit sinong mga fellow male housemates nito. Na bale ba kega-guwapo. Lalo na ’yong mga na-evict na sina Chevin, Axel, at Jacob.

Of her love life, Toni said seven years na silang mag-on ni Direk Paul Soriano this year. But no marriage plans yet, at ‘di pa raw nagpu-propose sa kanya si Direk Paul.

Sa kanyang new album naman, what makes this different from her past six CDs is that, i it bears her name as title. Bukod pa sa may sarili siyang composition dito, titled Awit ni Ginny.

Ginny was the name of the character Toni played in her blockbuster movie with Piolo Pascual, Starting Over Again.

Other tracks in the album are Sweetest Song, Oh Boy, ‘Di Ba Halata, and This Love is Like, among others.
