April Boy kailangan ng dasal, lagay ng puso masama ang kondisyon
How sad that we have to start our column with a sad note.
His doctor advised him daw to completely take a rest.
Let’s include April Boy in our daily prayers.
The Hitmen tuloy sa kakakanta, isinasabay sa pagnenegosyo
Now on a happier note, completely cured na of cancer ang singer na si Chad Borja, who, for a time, could not sing dahil he had cancer of the throat.
In fact, he is now busy being a member of the group, The Hitmen, consisting, too nina Renz VeÂrano, Rannie Raymundo, at Richard Reynoso.
Kung saan-saan sila nagpe-perform. Kabilang na sa The Library, where recently they met with members of the entertainment press.
May mga nakatakdang performance ang The Hitmen sa PICC (Philippine International Convention Center) at sa Music Museum.
They also go on out-of-town performances.
All four of them have had their time as solo singers. Bagama’t they still have, kumbaga, the ‘‘voice’’ na hinangaan at nagpatanyag sa kanila, they admit na as individual singers they are no longer as in demand as they used to.
But it’s a different story that they have formed themselves into a group.
All four of them din are married and have children. And, happily, as well, they are all well settled. May kanya-kanya silang sariling business.
Si Chad, halimbawa, is engaged in the consÂtruction business. Nagpapatayo siya ng bahay at ipinagbibili niya ito.
Renz, would you believe, is 56 but doesn’t look it. His kids, the eldest of whom is 32, are now well settled themselves.
He owns a printing press and is in the tarpaulin business.
Rannie, who, at one time ventured into politics in a town in Pangasinan, has a pub house (one of his businesses) where the group gets to perform, too, once in a while.
Richard is married to a stewardess.
Isay malapit na uling maging aktibo
Another cancer victim (lymphoma), who is now up and about as well is stage performer and singer Isay Alvarez.
Isay, like her husband, Robert Seña, ay nakapag-perform sa Miss Saigon, in London, England.
Let’s expect her to be active once more in her entertainment career.
Melai at Jason parehong walang trabaho kung kailan magkaka-panganay
Now a mother to a newly born son is Rica Peralejo, formerly an ABS-CBN contract talent.
Rica and her pastor-husband, Joseph Bonifacio (of the Victory Christian Fellowship) become paÂrents Jan. 17. They named their boy Phillip NathaÂniel.
Due to give birth in early February naman is Rica’s former fellow Kapamilya, Jolina MagdaÂngal. She and her husband Mark Escueta expect a boy, too for their panganay.
Melai Cantiveros, on the other hand, has no idea yet kung anong gender ng kanilang magiging panganay ni Jason Francisco.
‘‘Kung sabagay, okay lang sa aming mag-asawa kung babae o lalaki siya. Ang mahalaga, maipanganak ko siya ng normal.
‘‘Magastos daw kasi, sabi ng aking obstetrician, ang mag-deliver by cesarean section,†ang seryosong saad ni Melai.
Jason, like Melai, is out of a job at the moment.
