Bwakaw naisnab ng FAP

Maganda ang mini-stage na pinagdausan ng 31st Luna Awards ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) ni Production Design Guild President Manny Morfe, sa Quezon City Sports Club at E. Rodriguez Blvd., Quezon City. 

Naka-display din ang mga trophy na, in fairness sa kanila, ay mas maganda at mabigat at malaki na ’di tulad noong last year’s award.

Nalungkot lamang kami dahil hindi na naman pinag-aksayahang daluhan ito ng mga nominee gayong ito ang award na mula sa kanilang peers sa industriya. Present lamang ay sina FAP Director General Leo Martinez, FAP Luna Awards Chairman Rez Cortez, ilang singers na nagbigay ng song numbers. Naroon sina Direk Peque Gallaga at Eddie Garcia dahil recipients sila ng special awards, actor-singer Marc Abaya na tumanggap ng special award for his mom, director Marilou Diaz-Abaya.

Nanghinayang kami sa pagkakataon na hindi personally natanggap ni John Lloyd Cruz ang best actor award dahil sabi ni Direk Olive Lamasan, nasa Milan, Italy ito for the One Kapamilya Show doon. Hindi raw naman makaalis si Angel Locsin sa shooting nito ng Four Sisters in a Wedding para sa kanyang best actress award. Understandable na wala si Hilda Koronel dahil nasa States ito pero wala rin si Ronaldo Valdez. Halos lahat din ng nanalo sa technical awards ay representatives lamang ang tumanggap ng kanilang trophies. Mabuti at dumating si Direk Olive Lamasan dahil first best director award pala niya ito mula sa Luna Awards. Late na rin dumating si Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito, in time sa pagtanggap niya ng best picture award. 

Nag-explain pa si Leo Martinez, na sa pagpili ng best picture, kino-consider kung maraming technical awards na matatanggap ang pelikula. From 12 categories, El Presidente won four technical awards at ang best picture award, six naman ang nakuha ng The Mistress.

Nalungkot din kami na hindi man lamang nakakuha kahit isang award ang Bwakaw na kung matatandaan ay siyang pinili last year ng FAP na ipadala sa Oscars Awards at nagkamit din ng napakaraming parangal mula sa iba’t ibang award-giving bodies here and abroad. Dalawang pelikula lamang ang naglaban sa 12 awards, ang The Mistress at El Presidente.

Best Picture – El Presidente Scenema Concept and Viva Films)

Best Director – Olivia Lamasan (The Mistress)

Best Actor – John Lloyd Cruz (The Mistress)

Best Actress – Angel Locsin (One More Try)

Best Supporting Actor – Ronaldo Valdez (The Mistress)

Best Supporting Actress – Hilda Koronel (The Mistress)

Best Screenplay – Vanessa Valdez (The Mistress)

Best Cinematography – Carlo Mendoza (El Presidente)

Best Production Design – Danny Red, Joel M.V. Bilbao (El Presidente)

Best Editing – Marya Ignacio (The Mistress)

Best Musical Score – Jessie Lasaten (El Presidente)

Special Awards:

Eddie Garcia – Fernando Poe, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award

Peque Gallaga – Manuel de Leon Award for Exemplary Achievement

Marilou Diaz-Abaya – Lamberto Avellana Memorial Award

Best Sound – Albert Michael Idioma (El Presidente)
