Ex-PNP, DOTC Chief Mendoza, 67

MANILA, Philippines - Pumanaw  na si dating Philippine National Police at  Department of Transportations and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Leandro Mendoza sa edad na 67 matapos na dumanas ng kumplikasyon sa pagkaka-stroke at sakit sa puso kahapon ng umaga.

Ayon kay PNP-Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) Chief  Sr. Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, si Mendoza bilang dating hepe ng PNP ay gagawaran ng full honor alinsunod sa tradisyon, nakagawian at protocol.

Si Mendoza, produkto ng Philippine Military Aca­demy (PMA) Class 1969, nagsilbi bilang PNP Chief simula 2001 hanggang 2002.

Ayon sa opisyal si Mendoza ay nasawi sanhi ng kumplikasyon sa pagkaka-stroke na dinanas nito noong nakalipas na taon sa kaniyang tahanan sa Parañaque City at sanhi ng atake sa puso.

Naulila ng dating PNP Chief ang misis nitong si Soledad; mga anak na sina Maria Leah, Michael, Mark Llandro, Maria Leilani, Matthew at Maria Leanne.

Matapos na magsilbi bilang PNP Chief ay naitalaga si Mendoza bilang kalihim ng DOTC at nagsilbi ring Executive Secretary ni dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Magugunitang ipinaaresto si Mendoza ng Sandiganbayan 4th Division noong isang taon kaugnay ng sumingaw na kontrobersya  sa P $329 milyong National Broadband Network (NBN-ZTE) deal scam.

Nakatakdang iburol sa Heritage Memorial Park sa Taguig City ang labi ni Mendoza.
