MANILA, Philippines — Dahil hindi pa pinapayagan ang mga contact sports sa gitna ng kinakaharap na coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic ay virtual training ang ginagawa ng mga national athletes na naghahangad ng tiket sa 2021 Olympic Games.

Isa na dito si national taekwondo jin Pauline Lopez na gumawa ng sariling ‘bubble’ para makaiwas sa COVID-19.

“I just do a lot of virtual training,” wika ni Lopez, ang 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist. “I created this bubble for myself where I go to an area to train and it’s only myself.”

Ang 23-anyos na si Lopez ay isa sa mga Pinoy athletes na tumatarget ng Olympic berth sa Tokyo, Japan bukod kina 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic silver medal winner Hidilyn Diaz ng weightlifting, Nesthy Petecio ng boxing, lady skateboarder Margielyn Didal, judoka Kiyomi Watanabe at karatekas Junna Tsukii at Jamie Lim.

Nauna nang nakapagbulsa ng tiket sa nasabing quadrennial event sina boxers Eumir Felix Marcial at Irish Magno, gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo at pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena.

Nasa bansa sina Marcial at Magno, habang nagsasanay naman sina Yulo at Obiena sa Japan at Italy, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
