MANILA, Philippines – Kung maikukulong ni Manny Pacquiao si Floyd Mayweather, Jr. sa isang sulok ay malaki ang tsansa nitong manalo.
Ito ang paniniwala ni dating world boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya ukol sa banggaan nina Pacquiao at Mayweather sa Mayo 2 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I feel that come May 2, it’s going to be such a great fight because of their styles,” sabi ni De La Hoya. “Pacquiao is going to force the fight. It’s a matter of if Pacquiao can cut the ring off and connect them. I think it’s going to be a wonderful fight.”
Nakaharap ni De La Hoya sina Pacquiao at Mayweather.
Natalo si De La Hoya kay Mayweather via split decision noong Mayo 5, 2007, habang pinagretiro naman siya ni Pacquiao noong Disyembre 6, 2008 matapos umiskor ng eight-round stoppage.
Nagretiro si De La Hoya, itinayo ang Golden Boy Promotions, bitbit ang 39-6-0 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 30 KOs.
Ayon kay De La Hoya, taglay pa rin ni Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) ang kanyang lakas at liksi.
Para naman manalo si Mayweather (47-0-0, 26 KOs) ay kailangan nitong “sustain the pressure for 12 whole rounds against Manny Pacquiao.”
