Garcia, guest speaker sa PSA Awards

MANILA, Philippines – Walang iba kundi ang top government sports official ng bansa ang magiging special guest speaker ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) sa pagdaraos nito ng Annual Awards Night na inihahandog ng Milo at San Miguel Corp. apat na araw mula ngayon sa 1Esplanade sa Pasay City.

Magsasalita si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia sa harap ng local sports community sa Feb. 16 kung saan pararangalan ang mga top achievers ng taong 2014 ng pinakamatandang media organization sa formal rite.

Isang dating national golfer at PSC commissioner, nagsilbi si Garcia bilang Chef De Mission ng Philippine delegation na lumahok sa Asian Games sa Incheon, South Korea kung saan ang ta-nging gold medal winner na si BMX rider Daniel Caluag ang kikilalanin bilang Athlete of the Year sa event na itinataguyod ng Meralco, Smart at MVP Sports Foundation bilang principal sponsors at ng PSC bilang major sponsor.

Bukod kay Caluag, ang iba pang bibigyan ng award sa event na suportado ng Globalport, El Jose Catering, PCSO, Rain or Shine, PBA, Maynilad,  Accel, ICTSI, PAGCOR,  National University at Air21 ay ang National University (President’s award), ang MVP Sports Foundation Inc (Sports Patron of the Year), ang 1973 Philippine men’s basketball team (Lifetime Achievement Award),   coach Tim Cone (Excellence in Basketball), ang Mitsubishi (Hall of Fame), sina Alyssa Valdez (Ms. Volleyball), Jean Pierre Sabido (Mr. Taekwondo) at sina Princess Superal at Tony Lascuna (Golfers of the Year).

Igagawad din ng PSA ang 15 major Awards at 25 citation sa mga atleta, teams at entities bukod pa sa Tony Siddayao Award at Milo Jr. Athletes of the Year.
