Mayweather iniwan na rin ang Golden Boy Promotions

MANILA, Philippines - Kasabay ng pag-alis ni Floyd Mayweather, Jr. sa Golden Boy Promotions ay ang tuluyan nang pagguho sa pag-asa na matuloy ang laban nito kay Manny Pacquiao.

Sumunod si Mayweather sa paglisan ni Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Schaefer sa Golden Boy Promotions ni Oscar De La Hoya.

“We have a great working relationship with Richard Schaefer and that will never change,” sabi ni Mayweather Promotions CEO Lloyd Ellerbe sa ESPN. “Richard is a good friend and a great businessman and an excellent promoter . . . He built that company from the ground up and did a phenomenal job.”

Matatandaang naresolbahan na ang sigalot sa pagitan nina De La Hoya at Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na siyang maaaring maging daan para maitakda ang super fight nina Pacquiao at Mayweather.

Kapwa sinabi nina Arum at De La Hoya na darating ang panahon na maitatakda nila ang inaabangang sagupaan nina Pacquiao at Mayweather.

Ngunit mariing sinabi ni Schaefer na kailanman ay hindi niya puwedeng kausapin si Arum para maplantsa ang banggaan nina Pacquiao at Mayweather.

Nagtuwang ang Mayweather Promotions at ang Golden Boy Promotions sa siyam na naging laban ng American world five-division titlist simula sa kanyang record-setting battle kay De La Hoya noong 2007.

Tatlong beses nabasura ang negosasyon para sa Pacquiao-Mayweather mega showdown mula sa isyu sa hatian sa premyo hanggang sa pagsailalim sa isang Olympic-style random blood at drug testing.

Subalit dahil sa pagkakampihan nina Mayweather at Schaefer ay posibleng hindi na kailanman mapapanood ang kanilang upakan ni ‘Pacman.’ (RC)
