Javelosa babalik sa bakuran ng Ateneo

MANILA, Philippines - Muling nakakuha ang Ateneo ng isa pang mahusay na rookie matapos ihayag ni National team mainstay Michael Jay Javelosa na maglalaro siya para sa Blue Eagles sa darating na 77th UAAP basketball tournament sa Hulyo.

“I want to play for Ateneo to fulfill my promise to my late grandfather,” wika kahapon ni Javelosa.

Makakasama ng 18-anyos na si Javelosa sa kampo ng Blue Eagles sina Arvin Tolentino ng San Beda at sina Clint Doliguez at John Apacible ng Hope Christian School.

Nauna nang naglaro ang 6-foot-6 na si Javelosa sa Ateneo Blue Eag-lets kasabay sina college standouts Kiefer Ravena at Von Pessumal bago lumipat sa Reedley International School kung saan niya tinapos ang high school.

“I left Ateneo because I want to play for the national team back then. I’m very thankful I will have another chance to play for Ateneo one more time,” wika ni Javelosa.

Si Javelosa ay naging bahagi ng starting five ng Olsen Racela-coached national team na nagkampeon sa Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) Under-16 sa Malaysia noong 2011 at pumang-lima sa FIBA-Asia Under-18 Championship sa Vietnam noong 2012.

Hangad ng Blue Eagles na makabawi matapos mabigong makapasok sa Final Four noong nakaraang UAAP season.

Wala na sa Ateneo sina Ryan Buenafe, Juami Tiongson, JP Erram at Frank Golla.
