MANILA, Philippines - Magkakaroon ng tatlong first timers sa Season 11 ang Shakey’s V-League.
Lalahok sa torneo sa unang pagkakataon ang St. Louis University ng Baguio at Davao Lady Agilas at Southwestern University ng Cebu para maging nationwide ang torneo.
“This is the first time that Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be represented, thus making it a national tournament. And we expect these teams to provide a different kind of challenge and spring a surprise or two against the regular teams,†sabi ni Sports Vision president Ricky Palou.
Magsisimula ang aksiyon bukas sa pamamagitan ng blockbuster twinbill sa sagupaan ng UAAP champion Ateneo at Adamson bukod pa sa labanan ng defending champion National University at NCAA titlist Perpetual Help.
Ngunit tutuon ang pansin sa SLU, regular campaigner sa Shakey’s Girls’ Volley, na magde-debutkontra sa SWU sa Martes.
Si skipper Marian Torres ang mangunguna sa Henry Fuentes-mentored SLU na kinabibilangan nina Florence Madulid, Laarni Quezada, Roxanne Almonte, Maureen Agudia, Sunshine Banjawan, Czarina Mejia, Elaine Joy Daniel, Colleen Rossi, Eileen Gani, Krissian Tsuchiya, Allysa Aquino, Joanne Lunday at Loraine Geronimo.
Ang Lady Agilas ay pangungunahan ni team captain Venus Flores, katulong ang mga mainstays na sina Cherry Ann Balse, Angel Mae Antipuesto, Marie Claire Dawang, Reynelen Raterta, Mary Grace Berte, Princess Joy Oliveros, Ana Veronica Conception, Irish Dignadice, Ma. Aurora Enriquez at May Shiel Agton.
Ang Cebuanas ay pinalakas nina Frances Karen Derder at Lutgarda Malaluan para makatulong nina Neresa Villa-nueva bilang skippers at kasama rin sa team sina Janelle Cabahug, Therese Rae Ramas, Loida Abellana, Sheena Quiño at Necca Rose Dela Llana.
