Caluscusin most-bemedalled athletesa POC-PSC gymnastics competition

MANILA, Philippines - Si Jean Caluscusin ng National Capital Region ang hinirang na atletang may pinakamaraming gintong medalya hindi pa man pormal na nagbubukas ang 2013 POC-PSC Philippine National Games.

Ito ay matapos kunin ng 20-anyos na si Caluscusin ang dalawang ginto sa clubs (8.025 points) at ribbon (8.25 points) events ng senior rhythmic gymnastics individual competitions sa Rizal Memorial Gymnastics Center.

Nauna nang pinitas ng miyembro ng Far Eastern University cheering squad ang gold medal sa individual all-around.

“Masaya rin ako dahil ako ang lumabas na top athlete sa rhythmic gymnastics,” wika ng 5-foot-2 na si Caluscusin, isang fourth-year education student sa FEU.

Nagdagdag pa si Caluscusin ng bronze medal sa hoop (8.225 points).

Sa nakaraang 2012 National Games sa Dumaguete City ay kumolekta lamang si Caluscusin ng apat na silvers at isang bronze medal.

Dalawang gintong medalya naman ang inangkin ni Karen Velez ng Cebu mula sa kanyang mga panalo sa ball (8.050 points) at hoop (8.250 points).

Matapos namang magdomina sa 2012 National Games, isang tansong medalya lamang ang nakuha ni Mary Carmeli Garovillo ng Cebu nga-yong taon.

Winalis ang mga ginto sa all-around at apat sa indvidual events, tanging ang bronze medal sa ribbon (6.850 points) ang napitas ng 17-anyos na si Garovillo, may kursong occupational therapy sa Cebu Doctors College.

Nakatakdang pakawalan ngayong araw ang men’s at women’s artistics gymnastics competitions.
