‘Boom Boom’ pinatahimik ni Ramirez para sa interim belt

MANILA, Philippines - Nagwakas ang eight-fight winning streak ni da­ting world title challenger Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista ma­tapos ang isang split decision loss kay Mexican journeyman Jose Ramirez sa kanilang 12-round featherweight bout noong Sabado ng gabi sa University of South­eastern Philippines Gymnasium sa Davao City.

Nakakuha si Ramirez ng mga iskor na 114-111 at 114-111, habang tumanggap naman si Bautista ng 114-111 puntos.

Dahil sa kabiguan, may 34-3-0 win-loss-draw ring re­cord ngayon ang 26-anyos na si Bautista kasama ang 25 KOs kumpara sa (25-3-0, 15 KOs) ni Ramirez.

Huling natalo ang tubong Candijay, Bohol na si Bau­tista kay Heriberto Ruiz noong 2008.

Ang isa pang kabiguan ni Bautista ay ang kanyang first round KO mula kay world featherweight titleholder Daniel Ponce De Leon ng Mexico.

Umiskor si flyweight contender ng The Ring na si Rocky Fuentes (35-6-2, 20 KOs) ng Cebu City ng isang unanimous decision win laban kay Juan Kantun (20-4-3, 15 KOs) ng Mexico.
