Sakaling maitakda ang kanilang banggaan ni Donaire: Rigondeaux handa sa drug at urine tests

MANILA, Philippines - Handa si Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux na su­mailalim sa isang random drug testing sakaling maitakda ang kanilang unification championship fight ni unified world super bantamweight champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, Jr. ngayong taon.

Sinabi ni Gary Hyde, ang manager ni Rigondeaux, na dumaan na ang Cuban sa mga Olympic drug tests at walang magiging problema sa pagsailalim dito para sa kanilang laban ni Donaire (31-1-0, 20 KOs).

Si Rigondeaux (11-0, 8 KOs), ang World Boxing Association super bantamweight champion, ay isang two-time Olympic gold medalist.

“In relation to Donaire’s demands for Olympic style testing, I can confirm that we have no problem with this form of testing and Rigo is very familiar with it as he won Olympic Gold in 2000 and 2004. He spent his entire amateur career submitting to random Olympic style testing,” sabi ni Hyde sa kanyang liham kay Ryan Maquiñana ng BoxingScene.com

Kasalukuyan namang bitbit ni Donaire ang World Bo­xing Organization at International Boxing Federation super bantamweight belts.

Kamakailan ay sinabi ni Donaire na dapat munang dumaan sa drug at urine tests ang sinumang gustong lu­maban sa kanya.

Tanging ang 30-anyos na tubong Talibon, Bohol lamang ang boksingerong boluntaryong sumasailalim sa naturang mga eksaminasyon.

Samantala, pinabulaanan naman ni Hyde na nasa kampo ni Rigondeaux ang kontrobersyal na si dating performance enhancing drugs (PED) distributor Angel Hernandez.

“It would seem that there are some rumors circula­ting that Rigo[ndeaux] is being trained by people outside our team. This is all they are, DJ Montanocordoba has been doing a stellar job with Rigondeaux as has Jorge Rubio. Apparently someone has been speaking to boxing writers by claiming to be a member of team Rigondeaux and have been sowing the seeds of these rumors,” ani Hyde.
