Mara Lopez malabong maging beauty queen, may problema sa citizenship

Gusto ring ma-accomplish ni Mara Lopez ang lahat nang nagawa ng kanyang ina na si Maria Isabel Lopez. Foremost of which sana ay ang pagi­ging beauty queen nito.

Beauty queen material si Mara, except that she is one or two inches shorter than her mom. Gifted din siya with the right measurements, na isa sa mga asset ng kanyang ina when she joined the Binibi­ning Pilipinas 1982, which won her the title.

Here’s the rub, though. Mara was born in the U.S. Her mom and her Japanese Dad, in the early years of their marriage, pahayag niya, lived in America.

Mara’s Mom and Dad are now kaput. She has retained, though, her U.S. citizenship.

At ito ang malaking setback niya sa dream niya to join a beauty pageant sa Pilipinas.

Where her showbiz career is concerned, howe­ver, Mara proudly thinks she’s doing fine. In fact, in this year’s ongoing Cinema One Originals Film Festival, dalawa ang entries niya: Bitukang Manok at ‘Di Tatanda.

She plays lead roles in both films, and they are both challenging.

Smiling, she added na suki na siya ng Cine­ma One Originals, which is now on its 10th year. And one of her most memorable films na gawa ng Cinema One Originals was Palitan, filmed in 2012. Nanalo siyang best actress for her performance in the movie.

As most of the films she has appeared in are indie movies, dream daw niya ang makagawa ng mainstream movies. Yes, tulad ng kanyang ina.

Ending ng Pure Love may Pinoy twist

While on Friday, November 14, na mapapanood on ABS-CBN dito sa Pilipinas ang ending ng Pure Love, an adaptation of a Koreanovela 49 Days, sa Australia, where TFC (The Filipino Channel) subscribers ay tinutukan din ito, ay mapapanood ang last episode on Saturday, November 15.

Ganundin ang mga TFC subscribers from New Zealand, Guam, at Japan.

Stars of the series include Alex Gonzaga, Yen Santos, Joseph Marco, Matt Evans, at Arjo Atayde. Tampok din sina Sunshine Cruz, John Arcilla, at Yam Concepcion.

Directed by Veronica Velasco, who claims that Pure Love is her first to direct a teleserye ever, also in the cast are Aaron Villaflor, Anna Luna, Bart Guingona, Dante Ponce, at Shey Bustamante.

Speaking of the original Pure Love, which originally had the title na 49 Days, mapapanood ang Korean version nito ng buong-buo sa Jeepney Channel ng ABS-CBN.

Ewan kung nasunod ang balak ng ‘powers’ behind the production of Pure Love, yes, the adaptation, na gawing Pinoy ang ending ng series.

Personal happy birthday to Eat Bulaga Executive Malou Choa-Fagar, who marks a birthday today.

Malou, everyone in showbiz will agree, is one of the nicest and admirable persons in the business.
