CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Six people died while 28 others were injured in a collision involving a tourist bus and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Majayjay, Laguna on Sunday afternoon.

Four of the victims died at the scene of the accident that occurred at around 3:25 p.m. in Barangay Bakia, according to Maj. Jordan Aguilar, Majayjay police chief.

Two others were declared dead on arrival at the Nagcarlan Hospital, where the injured victims were taken for treatment.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known.

Aguilar said the fatalities were passengers of the APR Transport tourist bus, which came from Quezon province.

The bus, driven by Nelson Balanos, was reportedly negotiating a winding portion of Majayjay road when it crashed into the Hyundai Kona driven by Hazel Reyes.

Police expressed belief the driver lost control of the wheel.

Balanos and Reyes were brought to the police station for questioning.
