‘Three-peat’ target ng SGA sa Jones Cup
MANILA, Philippines — Hinugot ng Strong Group Athletics sina veteran wings Matthew Wright, William Navarro at Shaun Ildefonso sa misyong makumpleto ang ‘three-peat’ sa parating na 45th William Jones Cup sa Taiwan.
Kasalukuyang naglalaro si Wright para sa Saitama Broncos sa Japan B.League, habang naging free agent si Navarro matapos ang isang season sa Busan KCC sa Korean Basketball League.
Sina Wright at Navarro ay naging miyembro ng Gilas Pilipinas teams.
“Matthew and William have both competed internationally, and that experience is something that will really help our team as we go for another Jones Cup championship,” sabi ni SGA president Jacob Lao.
Nakatakda ang Jones Cup sa Agosto 8 hanggang 23 sa New Taipei City Xinzhuang Gymnasium sa Taiwan.
Bukod sa mag-utol na Ildefonso, Wright at Navarro, ipaparada rin ng SGA si 7-foot-3 behemoth Boban Marjanovic at sina DJ Fenner, Angelo Kouame, Tajuan Agee, Allen Liwag at Titing Manalili.
Pinagharian ng SGA ang huling dalawang Jones Cup editions at hangad na maduplika ang napanalunang tatlong sunod na korona ng Iran noong 2009 hanggang 2011.
