Mandaue residents to benefit from TESDA-7 mobile program

CEBU, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-7 has accredited two skills training programs of the Mandaue City College Technological and Entrepreneurial Skills Training Center (MCCTEST), paving the way for the city government to offer the courses through the agency’s Mobile Training Program (MTP).

TESDA-7 formally handed over the Certificate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Registration to Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano on Monday, July 21.

The accreditation covers the Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II and Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II programs, allowing them to be delivered under TESDA’s Mobile Training Program.

According to TESDA-7, the MTP is designed to bring free technical-vocational training closer to communities, particularly those in remote or underserved barangays, through the use of portable training equipment.

Under the initiative, trainers from MCCTEST will conduct the training in the barangays instead of requiring residents to travel to the training center.

TESDA-7 Director Gamaliel Vicente Jr. said the initiative seeks to expand access to technical-vocational education and provide more residents with opportunities to acquire skills that could help them qualify for employment.

Ouano, for his part, said the accreditation would enable more Mandauehanons to avail themselves of free skills training offered by the government.

He also said the city government is prepared to provide the support needed for the implementation of the program.

Present during the turnover ceremony were Mandaue Lone District Rep. Emmarie Ouano-Dizon, Councilor Joel Seno, TESDA-7 officials, and representatives from MCCTEST. — /MRM (FREEMAN)
