Quezon City, Manila schools secured amid threats
MANILA, Philippines — Two schools in Quezon City and Manila tightened security but continued yesterday’s classes following threats posted online.
The Manila Police District deployed MPD personnel to the Araullo High School in Ermita after a viral online post claimed that violence would occur during the school’s break time.
“We did not see anything. We inspected the whole school, from the ground to the top floors, even the trash bins. We did not find anything from the information we received,” Lawton police community precinct commander Lt. Christopher Ferrer told GMA News.
The police Anti-Cybercrime Unit will request Meta and Google to identify the source of the threat.
MPD spokesman Maj. Philipp Ines said people responsible for such acts are liable for grave threat, alarm and scandal.
In Quezon City, police provided additional security at the Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao after threats circulated online.
Security personnel confiscated sharp objects such as scissors as well as marker pens, which could be used to conceal weapons.
