CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has continued the distribution of Cash Relief Assistance (CRA) to more than 41,000 Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers, motorcycle taxi riders, and delivery service riders across the region.

The payout, which runs from May 28 to June 4, 2026, provides financial assistance worth P5,000 each to 41,289 transport workers affected by the continuing increase in fuel prices brought about by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

DSWD-7 officially launched the payout on May 28 at SM Seaside City Cebu, where 1,800 motorcycle taxi drivers from Angkas received assistance. This was followed by another payout activity at SM City Consolacion, which benefited 2,440 drivers from seven transport network companies (TNCs).

Another distribution activity was scheduled on June 3 at SM Seaside City Cebu for 3,499 drivers representing 27 TNCs from across Central Visayas.

Meanwhile, drivers and riders who were unable to attend the May 28 and 29 payout schedules were given another opportunity to claim their assistance on June 4 at SM Seaside City Cebu.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero in a statement said the agency remains committed to ensuring an efficient and client-centered payout process through its partnership with SM Supermalls, which provides spacious and well-ventilated venues amid the country's rising heat index.

“Just like in our previous cash relief payouts, we remain committed to delivering professional, efficient, and client-centered service to our transport drivers and riders across Central Visayas,” Lucero said.

“Through our partnership with SM Supermalls, we aim to provide a safe, well-ventilated, and comfortable venue to ensure the welfare and convenience of every beneficiary, especially amid the intense heat,” she added.

Prior to the current rollout, DSWD-7 had already extended cash relief assistance to tricycle drivers and Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers in April and May 2026 as part of the government's efforts to help transport workers cope with the effects of rising fuel costs. — (FREEMAN)
