WBO belt ni Navarrete kukunin ni Suarez

MANILA, Philippines - Kung hindi man knockout ay dapat kumbinsidong panalo ang makuha ni Pinoy challenger Charly Suarez sa paghahamon kay WBO super featherweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete ng Mexico.

Magsusuntukan sina Suarez at Navarrete sa Mayo 10 sa Pechanga Arena sa San Diego, California.

“Dapat convincing,” sabi ng 2016 Rio Olympian kahapon sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum sa conference hall ng Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Hangad ni Suarez, silver medalist sa 2014 Asian Games at three-time gold medalist sa Southeast Asian Games, na maging isa ring Pinoy world champion matapos si world eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao.

“Hindi ako naka-medal sa Olympics kaya ‘yung hindi ko na-achieve doon dito ko kukunin. Hindi ako papayag na hindi ko ito makuha,” wika ng 36-anyos na si Suarez sa pagtarget niya sa WBO crown ng Mexican champion.

Bitbit ng 36-anyos na si Suarez ang malinis na 18-0-0 win-loss-draw ring record kumpara sa 39-2-0 (32 knockouts) baraha ng 30-anyos na si Navarrete.

Pursigido si Suarez na masuklian ang solidong suporta sa kanya ni dating Ilocos Sur governor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson.

“It will be a big honor for our country if Charly wins the world title. My wish for him is to win at all cost. Kailangan manalo si Charly by knockout or ‘yung convincing,” ani Singson sa sesyon na itinataguyod ng San Miguel Corporation, Philippine Sports Commission. Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, Smart/PLDT at 24/7 sports app ArenaPlus.

Dumaan si PSC chairman Richard Bachmann sa PSA Forum para bigyan ng suporta si Suarez.
