UAAP may bagong rules sa Season 87

MANILA, Philippines — Simula sa Season 87, ipatutupad ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) ang bagong patakaran para sa mga student-athletes na nagnanais lumipat ng unibersidad.

Pormal nang inihayag ni UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag ang pasya ng Board of Managing Directors sa press conference kahapon sa Novotel.

Base sa bagong rules, ang isang student-athlete na nais mag-transfer sa kapwa UAAP member school ay mababawasan ng dalawang taon na playing years mula sa dating patakaran na isang taon lamang.

“The UAAP, as a collegial body, decided that any transfer made after the academic year 2023-2024 will not only incur the usual residency requirement but will now be charged with an additional eligibility year, making it a total of two years,” ani Saguisag.

Halimbawa, ang isang rookie na nagpasyang lumipat ng ibang school sa susunod na season ay magkakaroon na lamang ng dalawang taon na playing years kasama ang kanyang bagong team.

“In simpler terms, the residency period will remain the same but only the playing years of the transferee will be affected,” ani Saguisag.

Nakatakdang magsimula ang Season 87 sa Setyembre 7 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum kung saan inaabangan na ang palabas na inihahanda ng season host University of the Philippines.

Kabilang na rito ang performance ng OPM band Eraserheads.

Masisilayan din ang salpukan ng UP Fighting Maroons at Ateneo Blue Eagles na kilala sa tawag na “Battle of Katipunan.”

Ang tema sa season na ito ay ‘Stronger, Better, Together.’
