POC itinakda ang Philta election sa Disyembre
MANILA, Philippines — Nagtapos na ang halos tatlong taon na problema ng Philippine Tennis Association (Philta).
Ipinag-utos ng International Federation (ITF) sa pamamagitan ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang eleksyon ng mga bagong Philta officials sa Disyembre 11 sa Century Park Hotel sa Manila.
“It’s a crisis that dragged on for years and we are glad that the ITF has commented on the amended by-laws and gave the Philta a path back to recognition,” ani POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
Nagsimula ang Philta crisis noong Disyembre 3, 2020 matapos suspindihin ng ITF ang nasabing national sports association (NSA).
Ang ITF suspension ay base sa pagkakaroon ng Philta board of trustees (BOT) ng “exclusive membership” taliwas sa pagkakaroon ng isang regional representation.
Humingi ng tulong ang ITF sa POC para bumuo ng isang ad hoc body na titingin sa operasyon ng Philta kasabay ng pag-aaral sa kanilang charter.
Pinamunuan nina POC deputy head of legal Atty. Billy Sumagui at NSA caretaker Ramon “Tats” Suzara ang pag-amyenda sa Philta by-laws na nag-uutos sa Philta BOT na magkaroon ng 13 members mula sa geographic sectors na binubuo ng iba’t ibang rehiyon.
Ang naturang amended by-laws ay base sa original 1955 at revised 2020 Philta by-laws, ITF constitution, Hong Kong Tennis Association by-laws, The Rule of Tennis at sa Philippine Corporate Law.
