MANILA, Philippines — Isang nangangarap na maging miyembro ng Philippine national boxing team ang nagpakitang-gilas para kunin ang gold medal sa National Capital Region Leg ng 2023 Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Games kahapon sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex sa Malate, Manila.

Tinalo ni Florence Sumpay ng Polytechnic University of the Philippines si Raveklein Rubin ng City of Malabon University via Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) para pagharian ang 54-57 kilograms (featherweight) class ng Philippine Army bracket.

“Gusto ko pong maging miyembro ng Philippine team tapos maging professional boxer pagka-graduate ko,” sabi ng 21-anyos na Sports Science student ng PUP.

Umiskor din ng RSC si Justin Laurezo ng Olivarez College laban kay Clifford Abucejo ng Makati Science Technological Institute sa 48-51kg (flyweight) division.

Dinaig naman ni Manny Mabansag ng City of Malabon University si Ellyander Porneso ng Best Link of the Philippines sa 51-54kg (bantamweight) category.

Sa women’s volleyball, paglalabanan ng City of Malabon University at Rizal Technological University ang gold sa Philippine Army division ngayong hapon.

Tinalo ng mga CMU spikers ang Makati Science Technological Institute, 14-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17, sa semifinals.

Giniba ng RTU ang PUP, 25-5, 25-11, 25-15, sa isa pang smeis match.
