Soft tennis team kinilala ng Senado
MANILA, Philippines — Sa isang Senate Resolution ay pinuri ang Philippine soft tennis team dahil sa nakolekta nilang tatlong gold medals sa nakaraang 32nd Southeast Asian Games sa Cambodia.
Ang nasabing Resolution No. 66 na ipinasa noong Mayo 31 ay akda ni Sen. Sonny Angara kasama si Sen. Bong Go.
Bukod sa tatlong ginto ay humataw din ang mga atleta ng Philippine Soft Tennis Association (PSTA) sa ilalim nina Chairman Emeritus Dr./Brig. Gen. Antonio Laperal Tamayo at National President Capt. Robert Joseph ‘Bobby’ Moran ng isang pilak at isang tanso sa Cambodia SEA Games noong Mayo.
“The team’s recent performance in Cambodia “not only showcased the prowess of our Filipino athletes but also their determination to bring home the glory to a proud and grateful nation.” ani Tamayo.
Sa paggiya nina coaches Divine Escala, Michael John Enriquez at Josephine ‘Bing’ Paguyo, inangkin ni Joseph Arcilla ang gold sa men’s singles at ito rin ang kinuha nina Noelle Conchita Corazon Zoleta-Mañalac at Princess Catindig sa women’s doubles.
Nagreyna rin ang women’s team nina Zoleta-Mañalac, Catindig, Virvienial Bejosano, Christy Sanosa, Fatima Amirul at Noelle Nikki Camille Zoleta.
Nagdagdag si Zoleta ng silver sa women’s singles at bronze ang ambag ng men’s team nina Arcilla, Dheo Talatayod, Mark Anthony Alcoseba, Sherwin Ray Nuguit. Adjuthor Moralde at George Patrick Mendoza.
“We thank the Senate for recognizing the efforts of our athletes and the Philippine Soft Tennis Association in the last SEAG. This will inspire all of us to work harder and continue to win more gold and glory for our country,” ani Tamayo.
