PSC bukas pa rin ang pintuan kina EJ, Juico
MANILA, Philippines — Bukas pa rin ang pintuan ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) sa isang mediation para maresolbahan ang iringan nina national pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena at athletics chief Philip Ella Juico.
Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez sa ‘People, Sports, Coversations’ program isang araw matapos opisyal nang ideklara ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) si Juico bilang isang persona non grata.
“There should be a voluntary willingness from both parties, something that is not possible at the moment but PSC is open for that,” wika ni Ramirez. “It is the best option we have.”
Tinanggihan ng Southeast Asian Games at Asian championships record-holder ang alok na mediation ng PSC dahil sa kawalan ng tiwala kay Juico, pangulo ng Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA).
Kaya nanghihinayang si Ramirez na hindi ito tinanggap ng 26-anyos na Tokyo Olympics campaigner.
“We are sad because the elite athletes is under the principles of olympism that speak about friendship, respect, excellence, forgiveness and this is happening in Philippine sports,” ani Ramirez.
Idinagdag ng PSC chief na handa pa rin silang gawin ang mediation sakaling magbago ang isip ni Obiena.
Ang isinumite umanong dinoktor na liquidation papers ni Obiena para sa coaching fee ni Ukrainian trainer Vitaly Petrov ang ugat ng imbestigasyon ng PATAFA.
Nagsampa ng harassment complaint si Obiena sa POC Ethics Committee kasunod ang rekomendasyon ng POC Executive Council na ideklara si Juico na persona non grata.
“I may now be persona non grata in the eyes of the POC, but this will not distract us in our quest for truth, accountability, transparency and justice in our federation,” wika ni Juico.
Tiniyak ni POC president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino ang paglahok ni Obiena sa mga international competitions kagaya ng 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam at sa 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou, China.
Ito ay dahil sa inaasahang pagsibak ng PATAFA kay Obiena sa national pool at kay Petrov bilang coach.
