Aranas o Tolentino sa POC?
MANILA, Philippines — Isa lamang kina incumbent president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino ng cycling at Atty. Clint Aranas ng archery ang uupo sa pinakamataas na posisyon sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
Hangad ni Tolentino ang pagbubuklod sa mga sports leaders, samantalang gusto ni Aranas na maging ‘self-sufficient’ ang mga National Sports Associations (NSAs).
Magdedesisyon ang 54 botante, kasama ang 51 NSAs, kung sino kina Tolentino at Aranas ang kanilang ihahalal bilang pangulo ng POC ngayong hapon sa East Ocean Restaurant sa Macapagal Avenue sa Pasay City.
“God-willing, NSA officials will, their eyes are now open and they know really who can best lead the sports community, the POC,” sabi ng 56-anyos na si Tolentino.
Kandidato sa grupo ni Tolentino para sa iba’t ibang puwesto sina Tom Carrasco (chairman) ng triathlon, Al Panlilio (1st vice president) ng basketball, Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez (2nd vice president) ng fencing at modern pentathlon, Cynthia Carrion (treasurer) ng gymnastics, Chito Loyzaga (secretary) ng baseball at sina Dave Carter ng judo, Pearl Managuelod ng muay thai, Dr. George Canlas ng surfing at Cong. Prospero Pichay ng chess (board members).
Nasa tiket ni Aranas sina Steve Hontiveros (chairman) ng handball, Philip Juico (1st vice president) ng athletics, Ada Milby (2nd vice president) ng rugby, Julian Camacho (treasurer) ng wushu, Monico Puentevella (auditor) ng weightlifting at sina Robert Bachmann ng squash, Charlie Ho ng netball at Robert Manaquil ng billiards and snooker (board members).
