JAKARTA-- Matapos ang sunud-sunod na pag­kakasibak ng lima sa walong Pinoy boxers, isa sa tatlong Pinoy pugs na lumaban sa semifinals kahapon ay nakapasok na sa final round sa penultimate day ng kompetisyon sa 18th Asian Games.

Nakasiguro ng silver medal ang Olympian na si Rogen Ladon matapos ang madaling panalo kontra kay Yutapong Tongdee ng Thailand sa unanimous decision, 5-0 sa men’s flyweight 52kgs.

Dalawa pang boxers ang sumalang kagabi na mag­hahangad higitan ang bronze medal ni Carlo Paalam na nabigo kay Amit ng India sa men’s light flyweight 49kgs division.

Huling kakasa si Felix Marcial, back-to-back SEA Games gold medalist sa men’s middleweight 75kgs sa alas-7:45 ng gabi (8:45 p.m. Manila Time) kontra kay Israil Madrimov ng Uzbekistan.

Natapos ang laban na sugatan ang ilong ni Ladon at muling bumuka ang sugat sa kanang kilay gayunpaman, determinado pa rin ang 22-gulang na si Ladon.

“Kaya ‘yan, matigas mukha natin eh,” sabi ng 2015 Asian Championships silver medalist na hindi pa nananalo ng gold sa SEA Games.

Nakatakdang sagupain ni Ladon si Jasurbek Latipov ng Uzbekistan, two-time World championships silver medalist sa finals ngayong alas-2:15 ng hapon (3:15 p.m. Manila time).

“We are very happy, although he has wound in his nose and his eyebrows opened up again, he will be ready for the finals,” pahayag ni POC president Ricky Vargas na pinuno din ng ABAP.
