Donaire ‘di pa tapos ang career, babalik sa bantamweight

MANILA, Philippines — Hindi pa tapos ang bo­xing career ni dating four-division champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire  Jr.

Sa katunayan ay may tsansa pa siyang muling makapagsuot ng world boxing crown, ayon kay promoter Richard Schaefer ng Ringstar Sports.

Sa panayam ng Boxing News, sinabi ni Schaefer na babalik ang 34-anyos na si Donaire (38-5-0, 24 KOs) sa bantamweight division kung saan siya nagdomina bago napagtatalo sa fea­therweight class.

“One thing that seems to be very clear, he doesn’t really belong at 126lbs, he just doesn’t have the power to hurt at 126lbs, like he does at 122 and particularly 118,” ani Schaefer kay Donaire.

“We actually are discussing for Nonito potentially going back down to 118 and maybe give it another run there and see where it goes,” dagdag pa ng promoter.

Nagmula si Donaire sa isang unanimous decision loss kay Carl Frampton noong Pebrero sa SSE Arena sa Belfast, Ireland.

Huling lumaban si Do­naire sa bantamweight category noong 2011 kung saan niya binigo si Omar Narvaez.

Umakyat siya ng timbang at naisuot ang WBO super bantamweight belt kontra kay Omar Narvaez.

Sa kanyang pagbabalik sa bantamweight ay posibleng labanan ni Donaire si Nordine Oubaali na nasa bakuran din ng Ringstar Sports. (RCadayona)
